I trained as a psychotherapist at Regents University with a PGDip in Psychotherapy and Counselling and an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy. I am also a qualified EMDR therapist and am a member of the EMDR Association.\u00a0 I also hold a BA degree.<\/p>\n<p>I currently work in private practice and previously with the NHS in a hospital setting seeing patients in long-term therapy.\u00a0 Through clinical work in the NHS, the charitable and university sectors, and my own practice, I\u00a0have extensive experience\u00a0working with\u00a0clients\u00a0with a wide range of\u00a0issues and from diverse\u00a0backgrounds.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to training as a psychotherapist I worked in the finance and commercial sectors.\u00a0I bring a\u00a0broad understanding of the private sector to my work and appreciate the pressures of trying to achieve a balance between life and\u00a0work.\u00a0Having lived abroad, I\u00a0recognize the conflicts and concerns\u00a0of living as an expatriate and\u00a0understand and respect cultural differences.<\/p>\n<p>I am committed to on-going professional development and training and I subscribe to and am guided by the <a style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.psychotherapy.org.uk\/UKCP_Documents\/standards_and_guidance\/32_UKCP_Ethical_Principles_and_Code_of_Professional_Conduct_approved_by_BOT_Sept_09.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UKCP<\/a> and the <a style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bacp.co.uk\/ethical_framework\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BACP<\/a> codes of ethics for good practice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"proflogos\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: right; position: relative; right: 0px;\" src=\"http:\/\/betsygarrett.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/2_logos_440pxB.jpg\" alt=\"Prof logos\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am a fully qualified psychotherapist and am a registered member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
